Hotel Star Masterpiece Suite

The staff were good, and I had a great stay. Shops and malls are right nearby, with easy access to the markets.

I’m already looking forward to booking here again when I’m back in Seoul. The price was reasonable, service was great, and the location put everything we wanted to do within a 7-15 minute walk. We were close to palaces, department stores, local art and crafts, loads of cafes and bakeries, dessert spots, and great places to eat. Don’t be put off by the tucked-away street: during the day it looks a little run-down, but at night the signs light up and the food places bring it to life. Our red room had a distinctive design, apparently aimed at younger gamers. The mattress was quite firm, and the lighting wasn’t bright or direct enough for me to do my makeup easily. Those things wouldn’t stop me from coming back. Fantastic stay!

The room didn’t look anything like the photos. There were no windows, yet somehow mosquitoes got in, and the towels were stained. Both the room and the elevators smelled of smoke. They also gave me trouble over my reservation, and I spent an hour with the credit card company proving it was valid. Don’t stay here. It was bad.

For 50,000 won a day, this was a total disappointment. We’ve stayed in hotels and motels for 35,000-50,000 won with much cleaner, nicer rooms. This room was dirty, and the furniture and property were very old, with no sign of recent renovation. We booked specifically for the jacuzzi and asked the receptionist for a room with one, but it didn’t work. There was no soap, toothpaste, or toothbrush. The sheets and nightgowns were old and unclean. The toilet was separate from the bathroom, and the hand-washing basin was outside it. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
