Hotel Star

I hit my head on the very low ceiling of the staircase near the entrance. It’s so low it should violate building code. On top of that, kids were yelling with the door open at 1 in the morning, then again at 6. They shouldn’t be allowed to do that, and the soundproofing is poor enough that you hear a lot. Bring earplugs. The location was fantastic, with cafes and restaurants close by, and the service was excellent. They even let us check in a little early. The hotel was clean and smelled great, with a roomy bathroom and an almost jacuzzi-sized tub. The bedding was comfortable, though the mattress was a bit hard and I could sometimes feel a wire poking me.

Nothing fancy, just a decent hotel at a good price. The Wi-Fi worked well for getting work done, either in the room or at the cafe out front. Yoeksam metro station is very close.

The room had very little sunlight and no proper window, and there were spider webs in the shower. The bathroom light was dim, and the property seemed quite old, unlike the pictures. The room service woman was kind, though, and the location near exit 3 was convenient.

We slept well every night thanks to the firm bed and wonderfully soft pillows. I also loved the toiletries and tissues, which smelled so good. The room was impressively spacious for Seoul, and all the staff, including the cleaning staff, were warm and helpful. Service was superb. The hotel shares its lobby with “Hotel Stay” and is only a few minutes’ walk from the subway and train stations. The facilities were old, but it seemed like ordinary wear and tear, and there were no leaks or bad smells. I was a little disappointed that the lobby cafe was closed. Gangnam is a bit far from central Seoul, so Namsan, the palaces, and Myeongdong take around 45-50 minutes by bus. The nearby subway and bus stops made that manageable for us.
