Issue Seoul Guesthouse

The person who welcomed me waited an extra half hour for me to arrive instead of setting up self check-in, which was kind and made me feel welcome. I also appreciated his restaurant recommendation. Getting in and out with the door code was easy, though there wasn't anyone around otherwise, and the cafe was closed when I left at 10:30. I spent one night here. The tiny, basic room was as expected, and its price was a bargain for a private room with a bath. The decor was bare bones, down to the sparkly silver silicone between the bathroom tiles. What I didn't expect was the window opening onto a wall, with no light or air at all. I normally avoid rooms without windows, and this one really falls into that category. Maybe other rooms have better windows, so ask first if it matters to you. The lack of a proper window bothered me, but cafes in Seoul are often closed when you leave, so that was no problem.

The staff were friendly and the price was reasonable, but I was disappointed when I saw the room. My reservation said a private bathroom was included, but there were no photos. There was only a basic shower by the sink, uncomfortably close to the toilet. It felt like there wasn't really a bathroom, so I ended up using another hotel. The station was too far away, and transportation was poor. There was no soundproofing at all. The third floor felt like a temporary container building, with walls so thin I could hear a hair dryer and people laughing in the next room.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff member was very helpful. He explained everything I needed to know and took good care of guests.

It was just what I expected. The bathroom is one big shower, which isn't ideal, but otherwise it was a good place to stay for the night, close to lots of things.
