K Grand Hostel Myeongdong

The room is really cramped, and the check-in desk is on the 3rd floor, so you have to carry your luggage up at least three floors. The one good point is how close it is to Exit 13 of Seoul Station. On a winter night the hot water wasn’t working, so I couldn’t shower. The room faces the station, and there were announcements at 1245am.

The friendly reception staff were a real help during my stay. It’s a practical place for a short visit, especially if you’re traveling with light luggage, around 23 kg. The main drawback is the stairs: the hotel is on floors 3 and 4 with no elevator. Agoda clearly mentions this. You can carry heavy bags up, use a station locker, though large ones are limited, or ask reception to hold luggage briefly after checkout. Location is the standout. Seoul Station is less than a five-minute walk away, making it easy to get around, and there are lots of restaurants and shops nearby, including food and cafes in the station. A Daiso is close too, handy for things like a power adapter. The room is small to medium but comfortable for two adults. It has separate heating and cooling, a mini fridge, hair dryer, and a TV with plenty of Korean channels. The private bathroom has a separate shower. I’d give it 7 out of 10, since the toilet doesn’t have a bidet or water spray like ones in Japan or Malaysia. There’s some station noise, but it’s usually mild. Free earplugs are available for light sleepers. There’s a shared work and dining space by reception, with a microwave, kettle, stovetop, sink, water dispenser, and spoons, forks, knives, and plates. Water is free, as are French coffee and green tea. They don’t serve breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I found six outlets around the bed very convenient. They’re Type C, the kind commonly used in Europe, Egypt, and many Arab countries. I shared a photo of the outlet type for reference.

For a quick, no-frills stay, it’s decent if you’re traveling light. The hotel is on the 3rd floor and there’s no lift, so big luggage means using a station locker, where large ones are limited, or carrying it up yourself. It’s close to Seoul Station, so the subway makes most parts of the city easy to reach. There’s a nearby Daiso for last-minute things like an adapter. Korean channels on the TV are fun to browse, and the hotel gives out free earplugs for daytime station noise. There’s just one set of power outlets in the room. If you have several devices, bring an extension cord. I shared a photo of the outlet style, though it wasn’t the exact model in my room.

I can’t recommend it. It’s near Exit 13, but there’s no elevator, which makes getting luggage upstairs so hard. The pictures on AGODA make the place look good, but that’s not what you get. The room was too small and not decent, it wasn’t comfortable, and the service was bad. Not worth the money! 😡
