Makers Hotel

The location is incredible, but the hotel quality is mediocre. In the hallway there was a weird smell and food crumbs that stayed there during our visit, even right outside our door. When we got into the room, I noticed stains on the sheets. Looking closer, I found hair in the bed and inside the pillowcase. I asked for the bedding to be changed, but the replacement blanket was worse, with a bigger stain that they tried to hide by turning the duvet over. We slept under the first sheet, which was okay, though it wasn’t fitted, so it shifted overnight and exposed the mattress. The shower tiles were chipped, and the door on the fridge compartment was falling apart with chipped paint.

The room was hot and stuffy, but staff said they only had heaters. It was dirty, and even after I asked for cleaning, nothing was changed. Worst hotel I’ve ever been to.

The staff were friendly, and they could store our luggage for free before check-in. It’s a decent option in central Seoul, with the subway right outside. Our room was a fair size but dusty, and still felt stuffy with the AC running. The furniture was worn, and both the hair dryer and USB charging cables were faulty.

The hotel looks poorly maintained, even though the room was generally clean. Facilities are old, the towels had holes or looked stained, and the lights by the door didn’t work. The Halloween decorations were oddly fitting for the place. Staff were quite friendly and helpful. The subway entrance is right there, and food stalls line both sides of the road late into the night. There’s lots going on, and the cafes across the road are interesting, with popular ones drawing queues before opening. That activity can also make it hard to sleep, since the room insulation may not be enough. At night I misstepped on the edge of the platform bed and fell to the ground. The only chair in the room was unstable, with uneven legs.
