Mangrove Sinseol

For the price Mangrove charges, I don’t think the value is there. The quality of the construction and upkeep doesn’t match it. I expected a comfortable long stay but felt I was overpaying for something built as cheaply as possible. The building looks modern at first, but the fixtures, furniture, and finishes all seem flimsy and low-grade. It feels more like a budget dorm than a premium “co-living” place. Mold in the bathroom was the biggest problem. Poor ventilation lets moisture build up and mold develop quickly, even with regular cleaning, which is concerning for anyone with health sensitivities. A place marketed as clean and well managed shouldn’t have a bathroom in that state. I’d look elsewhere unless you’re okay paying premium prices for budget quality.

It’s a newly built hotel, so it’s very clean, and the cozy room still had plenty of space after I opened my luggage. There are lots of facilities: a kitchen, laundry, work room, and gym. The staff were fine, though I wouldn’t expect too much from them. Check-in and checkout are basically do-it-yourself. The train station is right next door, which is convenient, but the hotel isn’t in the center of the busy area. You’ll need to take the train to reach different tourist spots.

I picked this place because it was conveniently located on the bus route to Incheon Airport, but it feels more like a dorm than a hotel. The staff were rude and dismissive to me and my mother. When I asked in English how the luggage lockers worked, they gave no clear explanation and only pointed at a self-checkout machine with instructions in Korean. I ended up losing my luggage. Apparently you have to register the lockbox again after reopening it, but nobody told me. The door looked locked when I left, so I assumed everything was fine. Better communication and customer service could have prevented this frustrating problem.

The hotel is right across from the airport limousine bus stop, which was handy. I arrived at 11 PM, after reception had closed, but they’d emailed a QR code with instructions for getting into the hotel and my room. It’s a unique place, especially suitable for solo travelers, and it has a kitchen and laundry too.
