Rainbow Hotel Myeongdong

The advertised free breakfast was just bread, a boiled egg, and instant coffee mix, and the facilities were disappointing. The towels were small and unclean, the beds extremely hard, the shower had no hot water, and the room smelled strongly of paint. Staff entered rooms without permission, which made me feel unsafe. The manager also asked for my card details and extra cash for late check-in. This was presented as a hotel, but felt more like a badly run hostel, with misleading photos and descriptions. I reported the problems to Agoda and got no help. I had to check out that same night in November and find somewhere else. The stay was uncomfortable and misleading, and I wouldn't recommend it.

We arrived to find a place advertised as a hotel that was actually a hostel. Nobody was there, and we didn't even have a key to get into the room. I'd told Mr. Kim/Lee ahead of time that we'd check in late, but he insisted we hadn't messaged him. He then demanded more money even though we'd already paid by credit card. He was rude, harassed us, and threatened to have us deported. We felt disrespected and unsafe. This was the worst accommodation experience we've had. The listing was misleading, the host was aggressive and unprofessional, and the service was terrible. Don't book here, it caused us a lot of stress and frustration.

We booked five nights but managed just one before we couldn't stay any longer, so we basically threw our money away. Staff were very rude. This is a hostel, not a hotel, and honestly it's even worse than a hostel. Avoid it. It should be closed.

The website photos gave a completely false impression of the place. Its stairs were narrow and filthy, and the rules made no sense: shoes weren't allowed anywhere except on the stairs. The staff's attitude and service were extremely poor.
