Star Guesthouse

We spent two nights here between hotel bookings. The location was the only real plus. The room was much smaller than the pictures suggested, dirty, and clearly not cleaned properly between guests. It was noisy outside, and there wasn’t enough room to put down and open our luggage. I really disliked the shoe rule. You have to leave your shoes in a locker at the entrance and put on their slippers before going down the hall to your room. I didn’t want to stop at the front desk to change footwear, and the woman at the desk followed me down the hall insisting I take my shoes off. This rule wasn’t mentioned before we booked.

The room is compact, but it was clean and quiet, with everything I needed: a private bathroom with shower and toilet, a bed, closet, mirror, hair dryer, TV, and AC. The staff weren’t very talkative, possibly because their English wasn’t strong, but they still helped whenever I asked. It’s a great option for a short stay in Seoul, and I highly recommend it. City Hall station is within walking distance, and the airport bus stop is about three minutes away. That bus goes one way from Seoul to ICN airport; on the return, you need to take the airport train. There are good local restaurants downstairs, some open 24 hours. They seemed popular with local people, who lined up daily, and were cheaper and tastier than the places aimed at visitors. Tourist shopping streets and malls are also nearby.

I’m quite introverted and can come across as shy or unfriendly, so I really appreciated the receptionist’s smiles and kind gestures. She was a lovely woman and had a cute dog. The bed was very comfortable, and even though the room was tiny, it had everything I needed. I stayed for 12 nights in October 2024 and would happily recommend this guesthouse. Guestroom is near City Hall, with plenty of bus stops and the City Hall metro station nearby. It’s easy to walk to Myeongdong or Seoul Station, and there are lots of restaurants, bars, and cafés close by. Thank you for making my stay better.

Star Guesthouse was just right for me as a solo traveler. The room is small and simple, but it had what I needed: a comfortable enough bed, my own bathroom with bidet and hot water, plus private WiFi, TV, and a fridge. There’s an elevator, so you don’t have to climb the stairs each time. The owners were nice and even offered me rice. There’s also a shared kitchen with a water dispenser. The location is great, with three bus stops to choose from when heading out or returning, which made getting around easier. I’d stay here again when I come back to Seoul.
