THE RECENZ Dongdaemun Hotel

I arrived at 1:30 p.m. and was told my room was clean and empty, but I still couldn't get it until 3:00 unless I paid $10 to rent it by the hour. As a retired TV reporter, I thought I'd heard every hotel trick. This one made the place feel more like a roadside motel with hourly romance rentals than a proper hotel. The receptionist seemed apologetic, as if she had to explain why a glass of water suddenly cost $50. She clearly hadn't made the policy; management had. I suppose I'll sleep fine, though I'll be checking the sheets carefully for clues about what the last “short-timer” was up to, not for cleanliness.

Nice view, and the bed was really comfortable. I'd love to know the mattress brand. The location is good too, near two convenience stores and olive young.

The breakfast was fantastic, even with lots of people around. The staff kept the food coming, which impressed me. I also liked how quiet the place was, and the decorations were superb. The hotel was clean, the staff were nice, and the rooms had plenty of supplies. I enjoyed watching the television programs even though I couldn't understand them. One day I got up very early and walked around outside, which felt really chill. It's luxurious, and I'd pick this hotel again if I visit Korea. It deserves a thumbs up.

It's comfortable and convenient for getting around, though not especially quiet. You need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste, or you can buy them in the lobby if you forgot. I need a bidet in the toilet, but there wasn't one.
