Toyoko Inn Seoul Dongdaemun II

The front desk staff were very nice and the service was good, but the room itself is basic. The website calls it 3 star, while the building says 2 star. They describe it as a business hotel, yet there are no news or stock channels. The rooms are clean, but the bathroom doesn’t work for a larger man. I couldn’t sit on the very small toilet, and you can’t use the sink and shower at the same time. It feels more like a really nice hostel than a hotel. I saw much better rooms available on a Wednesday for 108,000 won. These rooms should be 60,000 to 80,000 won, so I don’t think the rate is worth it.

I’ve spent over 20 nights here in 2025 alone, and it’s my favourite hotel in Seoul. Still, be aware that the staff’s English isn’t good enough to help when something goes wrong. It may be fine when everything is in order. I told a staff member verbally that I wanted to cancel one night because I’d be in another city. The cancellation wasn’t processed. When I checked in again, the hotel insisted I pay for the night I hadn’t stayed, then sent a threatening email saying they wouldn’t accommodate me in future if I failed to pay. They also didn’t credit me the Toyoko club point for that night.

Convenient area for tourists, and the small room still had everything included. Just keep in mind that there are only two elevators, so you may need to account for that during busy times.

The location is excellent, right above DDC metro station and 150 meters from the airport limousine bus stop. Rooms feel like small ship cabins, with one piece plastic bathroom cubicles, but they’re practical and clean. Breakfast is included and decent.
