Stay 7 Myeongdong is in a lively, convenient part of Seoul, with shopping, food and transport close by. The neighborhood is vibrant and easy to get around. My stay had its ups and downs, though. Our group of eight arrived from Manila at about 4:00 AM and couldn't check in until 3:00 PM. The check-in rules are very strict, which was uncomfortable after the overnight arrival, especially in winter. During our December trip it got down to -18ยฐC, and the heating schedule felt inadequate: the heater only ran from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, leaving people waiting in a cold lobby for hours. Breakfast was also only available from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM, which didn't suit early or late outings. Laundry wasn't available during our stay, and language barriers sometimes made communication harder. Staff were still courteous, but in those moments the service didn't meet our expectations. It seemed more like a process problem than a lack of warmth. If location and a good base for day trips are your priorities, this place is convenient, provided you can work around the strict check-in, breakfast and heating times. For a future stay, I'd check late check-in, heating and laundry arrangements in advance, or look at nearby hotels with more flexible hours.

The location is the best thing about this hostel. The room was small and pretty dusty, and the window looked broken, held together with tape. We only stayed with friends because we needed somewhere at the last minute. At $250/night, I would've rather paid for a cleaner, roomier place. It really wasn't clean or suitable for five people. ๐ฅน

The rooftop is great, and the location is right in central Myeongdong. You can also do laundry, though staff gave us mixed information about when and how to use it. Those were about the only good points. We had booked at the last minute because this was the cheaper option, and it became clear why. The room we got didn't match the one in the photos we chose. That room looked bigger, with a better view and larger windows. Staff said it was full, so we ended up in a tiny room with an extremely small window. Breakfast was awful. A staff member was blowing flies away with his mouth. We never went back and left six free breakfasts unused. The bathroom was covered in mould, constantly smelled of sewerage, and wasn't cleaned. Housekeeping was only available if you stayed long enough or paid extra, so I cleaned it myself. The rooms are small, though that's expected on this side of Asia. I won't return. I'd absolutely pay more to stay somewhere else.

For $250/night, this wasn't worth it. The room was so dusty I coughed all morning while getting ready, and the back of the little vanity table was disgusting, like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The shower floor felt slimy enough to make me gag, and the shower slippers felt just as bad, so I couldn't put them on.

We came before check-in, and the front desk kindly held our bags while we went out to see the city. The room had five bunk beds and was near the elevator. Both it and the restroom were clean and pleasant, with fresh linen and towels. Breakfast was included and was just right to start the day: toast, freshly boiled eggs, fresh fruit, coffee, juice and condiments. The staff were super nice and friendly. The hotel is within walking distance of Myeondong market, food and shopping. We picked it because it had the best breakfast rate, despite seeing mixed reviews first, and I'm glad we gave it a try. I'd definitely recommend it.
