voco Seoul Gangnam by IHG

We booked at the last minute for New Year, and the setup worked out well. Each floor has a shared kitchen area, a concept I hadn't used elsewhere, but it was genuinely convenient. The rooms were just the right size. Buses and the subway made it easy to get around the city, and the neighborhood had a decent range of restaurants for starting or ending the day between trips to other areas. Great spot and location.

The breakfast buffet was the best I've had, with generous portions and everything laid out and presented beautifully. The small, cozy hotel was spotless, as were the rooms, and the staff were very friendly. We booked it because it was within walking distance of the clinic where I had surgery, and it wasn't expensive. My stays are usually in pricey hotels, around $850 or more a night, across Europe, the Caribbean, and the Virgin Islands, but this place was 1000 times better than any hotel we've stayed in. I usually only write reviews when I'm unhappy or really pleased, and I'm very pleased this time. We'll be back in June for more surgeries and will definitely stay again. VOCO, I'm in love! ❤️

The big shopping and restaurant district is an easy walk away, right across the street behind Olive Young. My room was clean and modern, and having a kitchen on every floor makes the hotel a good fit for a longer recovery. The restaurant stays open until 10:30 and has good choices. I tried the Shanghai pasta and burger, and both were delicious. Coffee was very good in the restaurant and in the room. One frustration: staff haven't been trained on the Chase IHG partnership, so they don't recognize your status and think the booking came through Expedia.

Our room for two adults was large enough that we could spread all three bags open on the floor, which is rare. It was very comfortable, and the service was awesome. The hotel is close to the metro. I'll stay again when I'm in Seoul.
