We got around without a car, taking the bus and taxis to Seoraksan and the village for affordable fares. The beach is within walking distance too. The rooms are spacious and have a kitchen, though they’re not fancy. The owner was friendly and gave us ice cream from the coffee shop attached to the place. They also provided water.

The beach is the only real plus here. We stayed one night in Room No. C203, and around 8 at night the room started smelling strongly of barbecue. We went out for dinner, but came back to smoke and barbecue smell filling the room, even with the windows closed. At the front desk, we were told there was a barbecue nearby and advised to open the windows. She apologized, but nobody came to check the room or did anything else. There wasn’t complimentary coffee or tea either, which I thought was pretty standard in Korean hotels. Glad we only stayed one night.

The owners were so helpful and accommodating, and there’s a coffee house on the building’s first floor. We were in Sokcho for a night and found the simple rooms comfortable. I’d recommend staying here if you’re visiting Sokcho.

Nice hotel with kind staff. The beds were extremely hard, though. The owner gave us three blankets to use as an extra mattress.

hj house is great. It doesn't look old, but the cleaners should clean it properly, like it was their own house, because it's hj HOUSE...🤞
