The restaurant terrace overlooks the Mekong River, which could make it a highlight, but right now it’s a bare concrete platform with basic tables and chairs and no atmosphere. The food was extremely disappointing, too. The dishes were greasy and bland, and the scrambled or fried eggs at breakfast were swimming in oil. There are safety issues around the pool: a broken inspection cover, exposed nails on several sun loungers, and swing benches in very poor condition, all of which could cause injuries. Room cleaning also needs work, with spider webs left around that hurt comfort and overall satisfaction. The rental bicycles were in very poor condition as well. Our stay fell well short of what we expected, especially for the price. After staying at twelve places in Laos, this was among the worst value for money we encountered. Better safety, cleanliness, maintenance, and food would greatly improve the guest experience.

The room was huge, comfortable, and beautifully renovated with hardwood floors. It’s a quiet spot to work or explore the area, and I’d recommend it even to my picky parents, haha. The pool and AC are very cool, the view is amazing, and everyone working here is wonderful. Such great hospitality. I’ll definitely come back.

The staff are really kind, and the pool is lovely. The rooms have a nice colonial feel, though they could use more decoration and a chair; the bathrooms are rather drab. Our shower had no hot water, so we had to switch rooms. The WiFi was another frustration. The signal was weak in many parts of the hotel, and even when connected, the internet kept dropping. Still, it’s one of the nicer hotels on the island, and a nice place to stay with room for improvement.

The owner and manager made us feel so welcome, and this is a place I’d love to return to. Breakfast by the pool was extraordinary. We stayed in the old Kolonial house, in a lovely room with a very good bed. There’s a private terrace at the back overlooking the swimming pool, plus a large shared terrace at the front over the beautiful Mekong. You could sit there for hours. A place with a soul, in a beautiful setting along the river.
