Sanhak Guesthouse 1

We stopped for two nights while visiting Kong Lor cave, and the place was perfect for that. The rooms were great, the staff amazing, and the restaurant food was out of this world. The coffee was amazing too. Highly recommend.

The staff were lovely, the food delicious, there were plenty of drinks, and our private AC room had a very comfy bed and a nice hot shower. We stayed two nights and would definitely return if I did the loop again. Each private room had its own towel art, which was a nice extra. We arrived in a big storm, and most of the day the whole area had no power. They did everything they could to make our stay as good as possible, and even discounted the room despite the outage not being their fault.

Sanhak Guesthouse worked perfectly as our 2nd stop on the loop. We’d already planned to stay two days, but after a small scooter accident on the road in, we spent the second day relaxing instead of going to the cave. Take care on that last downhill stretch before town, it’s long and has lots of curves. We found the final stretch into Thakhek boring, with a busy road and lots of impatient large transport trucks. I’d suggest getting up early, turning around, and taking the longer route back toward Thakhek so you can see the view from the opposite direction and get a better overall drive.

The rooms were affordable, though the food was okay and a bit pricey. It’s a nice place to stay while doing the Thakhek Loop. Dorms seem to sell out quickly, so reserve ahead. There was a lot of animal noise in the morning, but I can’t fault the place for that.
