There’s plenty of space, but the decor is cheap and Chinese-style. The air feels stale, with sewage and mold smells, and the bedding was damp. WiFi is weak, there’s no phone, and it doesn’t work for business. No choice again.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, the balcony view was lovely, and the hot water and pressure were excellent. The lobby staff were pleasant and smiling throughout our stay, and the coffee shop across and down the street was delicious. We also found some great food within walking distance, including street vendors selling amazing bread. The pool looked nice, though we only spent a couple of minutes walking around it. The building looks impressive from outside, and the tiled lobby has a marble-like finish with a small seating area. It seems the lower floors include staff areas, a Chinese corporation, breakfast space, and the pool; I think rooms are on floors 5-12 and apartments above. We stayed in an apartment on the 16th floor. The elevator plays the same 40-second Beethoven clip, and after several days it gets irritating enough to make you want to take the stairs. The desk staff were consistently friendly. One person seemed to speak only Chinese, while we spoke English and Thai. The place started out looking decent, but after five days we noticed too many quality problems. Water leaks had been patched badly in lots of places, including from outside, from the floor above, and around the shower, toilet, and kitchen. There was mold growing on a wall under a piece of new wallpaper, almost like a science experiment, which we only spotted when leaving. Grout was missing from tiles in the floors, bathrooms, lobby, and hallways, leaving the lines looking very dirty. Some access panels were left open, cabinets opened onto walls, and other repairs looked like blobs of material put over problems. That’s a lot of faults for a building presented as luxury. The mall next door had a few shops, but most of the second floor and above were empty. There was one decent food shop, and the 24-hour store outside the building was quite useful. We skipped breakfast, but the enclosed area didn’t look inviting. Getting a taxi was easy and it could take us around in a few minutes, but the location felt less convenient than staying downtown, where there are cheaper places and more walkable options. The nearby buildings, guests, and businesses seemed mostly Chinese. The people from Laos were lovely, but we didn’t feel welcome in most other places, so we spent time around downtown instead. For all the building problems, the bed was surprisingly cloud-like. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. There are other places in more convenient areas that feel friendlier and are closer to everything.

The rooms are roomy and have nice facilities. There’s a pool, gym, and breakfast, though the buffet doesn’t offer much variety. Only one or two people speak English, and you can’t order food to your room since there’s no menu outside breakfast hours.

The rooms are clean and spacious, but the hotel is away from the tourist attractions. Breakfast was terrible.

Right in the capital’s city center.
