Luang Prabang Hostel

The location was the main plus, right beside the royal palace and the morning and night markets. For the price, the accommodation wasn’t bad, but it didn’t meet our expectations. The room was extremely humid and smelled bad, and the sheets and towels didn’t feel very clean. Breakfast was just okay and generally not great. Since the rating on Booking.com was four stars, we had expected an okay place, and in my opinion most of the reviews don’t set the right expectations.

The location was hard to beat, right in the middle of town. The night market was less than a block away, and the morning market was just outside the entrance. We also appreciated being able to leave our luggage after checkout and explore before heading out. At arrival, the manager welcomed us with fruit and drinks while we waited for our room, and his English made it easy to communicate. Breakfast was included, freshly cooked to order each morning, and delicious. The WiFi worked well throughout our stay, and they could arrange taxis and tours. We had a great time and would definitely stay again!

The front desk guy was friendly and very helpful. The hotel has a pleasant garden and a great location, though it isn’t very large. The rooms feel quite old, with a noticeable musty smell and lots of mosquitoes, and the bathroom isn’t very functional. Breakfast had limited choices and wasn’t especially good.

The location was a real highlight, about two minutes from the night market, a temple, the street where people watch the alms giving, and other town activities. We stayed four nights in January. At check-in, the friendly staff welcomed us with drinks and fruit. Our room, 201, was quiet and spacious, with the dark wood design you see around town. The bathroom could use some renovation. The hotel has complimentary bikes, and we’d recommend it for a short stay in Luang Prabang.
