Mekong Charm Guesthouse

The breakfast spot beside the Mekong was the highlight, a lovely way to start the day. I stayed three nights, Monday to Thursday, in a large room with good shower pressure, AC, and WiFi. Lynn, the manager, made a great first impression by offering me a welcome drink and walking me through a map of the area, with restaurant suggestions. It was my first time in Luang Prabang, and I was very happy with the hotel. The cost was 230 USD, circa 7,150 THB-2400 per night.

Ms Lynn and her husband, the hotel managers, made our family’s stay especially enjoyable with their wonderful hospitality and customer service. We all wished we could have stayed longer in Luang Prabang! This small hotel has a direct view of the Mekong river and is close to the Historica District of the city. It’s cozy, and while the rooms are quite old, they’re extremely clean and well maintained. I can see why it has a 4.6* review in general, it deserves it. Bravo Mekong River Charm Hotel, and thank you Luang Prabang for having us! Definitely recommend, especially for families.

The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable, with quality toiletries and linens. It was behind reception, though, and got limited natural light because of the neighboring property’s wall. The shower pressure was weak but usable. The welcome and check-in were excellent, and breakfast came with a remarkable river view.

I was upgraded without asking after Luang Prabang museum inn told me there’d been a booking mistake. For the same price, I got a lovely room at Mekong Charm Riverside, and it was fantastic. The receptionist was very kind and helped whenever I needed it. The usual price is a bit higher, but honestly the hotel is great. You can have breakfast by the Mekong river, and the city center is very close. As the cherry on top, all the staff speak fluent English!
