Restaurant Luang Prabang Bakery & Guest House

We ordered drinks that were listed on the menu, then waited more than half an hour before a waiter came out to say they didn’t have them. It was disappointing that nobody told us sooner. Such a waste of time.

Great place to eat, with really friendly waiters. The coffee was excellent, and the cheesecakes were the best I’ve ever had.

The food can be hit or miss, and my wife’s meal arrived after I’d already finished mine. The French bread pizza was awful, very salty and not nice, and when we mentioned it, they ignored us. The burgers and fried rice were good, though. Some staff were really good, but others were really poor. Generally, the place was very good.

We’re already thinking about coming back. Nong, the owner, checked in every day, helped with anything we needed, and gave us great local tips. By the time we left, he felt like a special friend. The restaurant downstairs was so good that people came back for several meals a day, even with hundreds of other restaurants nearby. The Australian Ribeye steak was to die for, and the French bread was soft and freshly made. The room was spacious and very clean, with a soft mattress and plenty of hot water. We could sit on the porch and look over the night market. The hotel is a hidden treasure right in the heart of town, with everything just outside the door. Book before someone else does!
