Villa Khili Namkhan

The card I'd used through booking.com was charged the full price five days before arrival, but after a long day exploring Laos the cashier stopped me and said I hadn't paid. I showed what booking.com said and asked him to check again. The way he handled it felt very unprofessional. We were also told late checkout wasn't possible, not because the place was full, but because the cleaning employee didn't want to stay longer. There's a sign at the cashier saying 100k Kip per House. The shower had no water pressure, and the TV screen looked damaged and didn't work. Worst of all, we got locked out on the balcony for 1,5h, unable to get back into our room because the door lock engaged from the balcony side. We were on the second floor at the back of the building and had no way to get help. A wide smile doesn't make up for the damage caused by false marketing.

The price felt too high for what the room offered, even in low season. Rooms away from the river get very little natural light, and the service came across as weary. On the plus side, the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and there's good hot water and wifi. We were in a back room and could hear the man in the house behind us showering every morning, then going through his 15-minute routine of coughing up phlegm. Not the hotel's fault, but unpleasant. Fine for one night, though I wouldn't stay again.

Thank you to "Pahm" at reception for the excellent service. I hope I have the spelling right, I forgot to ask. We had a wonderful stay, and the rooms were spacious and clean.

Breakfast was delicious and offered plenty of different choices. I spent three nights here, and found the room clean, tidy, and comfortable.
