Villa Laodeum

I love my corner room, #5. There’s no restaurant here, but the value is really excellent. The staff are lovely, and breakfast, A/C, a private bathroom, daily bottled water, and unlimited tea and coffee are included. I’ve already extended my stay and plan to come back later this month. The guest house has charming colonial French/Loation architecture, with a wraparound porch and breezes coming through the upstairs windows. It’s a block from the Mekong River and the night market, across from the Royal Palace, and right along the monks’ morning rice-collecting route. Reasonably priced and well located in Luangprabang.

The main drawback was the bathroom setup: there’s no shower curtain between the shower and toilet, so the toilet gets wet when you shower. They do provide a few towels, which helps. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the location is great, right by the royal palace and night market. They can also arrange tours to Kuangsi or the Pak Ou caves.

The room was a little small, and even with just two pieces of luggage we didn’t have much space for them. Still, we had a lovely stay. It was clean, bright, comfortable, and convenient, and the included breakfast was healthy and tasty.

The location is good, just 50m from the Mekong River and 80m from the night market. Staff were friendly, though our room wasn’t cleaned every day. The room and bathroom were small, and there were no hooks in the bathroom for hanging clothes.
