After I posted a detailed Booking.com review about everything that went wrong during our stay, hotel management contacted me and tried to get me to change or delete it. They told me things I believe were false. I find it shocking that customers would be pressured like this to remove negative reviews. The hotel itself is badly maintained and has aged poorly, and the staff seemed negligent and unprofessional. I can only guess that this tactic is how it keeps positive ratings on Google and Booking.com, because based on my experience it doesn't deserve them.

When we ordered breakfast, we kept getting different things from what we'd asked for, and apparently that was our fault. The staff spent the day sleeping or scrolling at the entrance. Even at check-in, we had to wake someone up. Our room was really dirty. There were brown streaks on the wall behind my pillow, hairs in the sheets, and the old towels and sheets were stained. We tried to overlook it, but it was hard. Then they tried to guilt and play the victim to get us to remove our Booking.com comment, even though it just described the dirty place and poor service.

We could walk everywhere from this centrally located hotel, and it stayed very quiet at night. The colonial house is beautiful and clean, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. It was the best hotel we stayed at in Laos.

Really good value, and I had a very good stay. The reception staff were kind and helpful, and the hotel was clean. They have two babies there, so cute. If I go to Luang Pra Bang again, I'm pretty sure I'll book here.

The furniture may not be the newest, but our room was perfectly clean and quiet at night. For the same price in Luang Prabang, this is really good value, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
