The cafe downstairs is lovely, with a great cappuccino and good food. Staff speak little English, if any, but they're very friendly and do what they can to help. Rooms are reasonably modern and clean, and everything works, though you have to ask for the room to be cleaned. Maybe that's because it's only $20 a night. For me, the location worked perfectly, halfway between my son's school and the river where things are happening. Patuxay and the two main shopping centers aren't far either. The river area, with its night market, restaurants, and bars, is about a 10-15 minute drive, so I'd recommend renting a motorbike or having some other wheels if you want to get there easily. For a more Laos-style evening, there are walkable places to eat, plus privately owned convenience stores selling beer where you can sit outside at a table, and a few Laos bar-restaurants.

What a horrible night. The small bedroom had a noisy, creaky bed, and the night staff were very bad. I asked for an extra single bed, but they wouldn't give me one. When I asked again, they said I would be checking out tomorrow.

Very clean and comfortable. A twin room cost 800 baht. It's not within walking distance of the embassy, but otherwise I'd recommend it.

We booked the same grade through Agoda, but the rooms we got were completely different. Mine was a very cheap room, while my friend's was a suite. They said they were fully booked, but I don't think so. I hate this.
