Petit Espace Hostel

The location is great, but the hostel itself is very basic and not particularly clean. Breakfast doesn't come with coffee or tea, and a regular americano costs 55,000 LAK, which feels expensive for this standard. Staff weren't especially friendly or attentive. I considered giving it three stars. What bothered me more was the offer of free beers in exchange for a five star review. I know this may happen in parts of Southeast Asia, but it undermines independent reviews and probably helps explain the relatively high Google rating. Don't expect much beyond the location.

Just outside the capital's tourist district, this is a lovely local hostel with reasonable rates for dorms and private rooms. The dorms have dual A/C and the shared bathrooms were clean. Beds were quite comfy, and the pillows and blankets were even better. There was no towel deposit. The staff were the highlight, all super friendly and helpful with information about the area. I'd definitely recommend it.

I had a comfortable, clean room, a hearty breakfast, a warm welcome, and a good location. Unfortunately, two people in the next room made noise until 1:30 am on my second night, and hotel staff didn't intervene. Their body odor also stank up the fourth floor and shared bathroom. Too bad for me.

Petit Espace Hotel was a fantastic place to stay in Vientiane. The location was quiet enough to rest, yet cafés, restaurants, and key city spots were close by. It felt like a boutique oasis and was great value for money. The modern design was clean and cozy, with lots of attention to detail. My room was spotless and comfortable, with good air-conditioning and a relaxing feel after a long day out. The staff were always smiling, incredibly friendly, and helpful with recommendations and transport. They went out of their way to make sure things were right. I'd absolutely stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Laos.
