Vientiane Luxury Hotel

The room was in poor condition. The bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned, there was no shampoo, and the pillows were the worst I’ve ever had. Even with two stacked together, they felt thinner than a normal pillow. Soundproofing is basically nonexistent: every time a nearby room shut its door, the noise echoed through the walls and woke me up. There were mosquitoes in the room, and breakfast was just average. The service was disappointing too. When I arrived to check in, the receptionist didn’t greet me and was busy on her phone. I had to go up to her and say I had a reservation. She only said, “Passport.” No welcome or explanation. It felt very unprofessional. The location is convenient, but the hotel is overpriced compared with much better options nearby. For the same price, you can find somewhere with better service and facilities. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The breakfast choices were limited, though probably enough if you don’t expect much variety. The hotel is handy for downtown, shops, restaurants and other attractions. My room was clean and had no unpleasant smell, but the bathroom looked old and could use renovation. I was concerned about security because the luggage I left with staff was just sitting beside the front desk, without supervision or secure storage.

Mr. Kitoung is a special person and a great hotel manager. The staff here were some of the most generous people I’ve met, and together with my guide Mr. Johnny, they made Laos a very special place for me. They even got me a beerlao glass, so I’ll always remember this beautiful country. Big beerlao is my favorite beer now. Khop Chai Laos ❤️

The breakfast was brilliant and kept us full for the day. The location is ideal, two minutes on foot to the night market and five minutes to the strip and river. If you’re on a budget and want a central spot, it works well. We asked to check in early but were told to return at 2pm, and when we came back the room still wasn’t ready. I skipped the pool because it looked stagnant and unfiltered, which seems like a terrible idea with dengue fever around. The pool bar area also seemed to be used for dumping extra hotel furniture.
