Long Ngum View Resort

The restaurant food was really delicious, and the staff were great, though clearly overworked. The lake view is beautiful and the air feels clean. The room was spacious and reasonably clean, but the lighting was terrible, and there were ants. The hotel itself is in disarray, with things broken or coming loose everywhere. Breakfast was poor.

At 12 USD, or 280k kip, the mountain view room felt like decent value. The hotel was mostly empty when I was there. There are restaurants along the water and boats for hire, though there aren’t many choices right by the water, so this was an easy pick. Good enough for me.

The view across the dam and its islands is absolutely spectacular, just breathtaking. That’s what makes Long Ngum View Resort stand out. The rooms are very large, simply but nicely furnished, and the bedding, linen and towels were all clean and tidy. The place may be rated 2 to 3 stars, but it doesn’t feel like a typical property in that range. The stairs and walkways can be a bit challenging, and there are no lifts, though staff will come help quickly if you need them. The food was okay.

The room was a decent size and, although it wasn’t very modern, it was well maintained. The hotel was very clean too. I’d stay here again.
