Mad Monkey Vang Vieng

The pool and balcony views were amazing, especially at sunset, and the food was exceptional. They run activities every day, and the location is good. In the female dorm at least, the bathrooms were great, each bed had curtains and a storage locker, and the social area is separate enough that it doesn't get too loud in the rooms. I stayed in December, and it's still one of the best hostels from my Southeast Asia trip. Highly recommend staying here!

Daily events, great food, and a beautiful view made this a fun, social, and safe place to stay. The beds were comfortable, the location was good, and every employee was great. After five years of travel, this is genuinely the best hostel I've been to. I can't think of anything bad to say. I highly suggest you book Mad Monkey.

I'd call this more of a 3.5-star stay, but I felt bad giving it that. The place was nice and clean, with very comfy beds. Everyone in my dorm was quiet and respectful. The toilets smelled a bit like stale pee, though, and my T-shirts came back clean and fresh but weirdly crusty in places, folded with such elaborate creases I couldn't have managed them myself in a day. The showers and sink area were lovely. There were good drink offers and nice people, plus a chill spot by the pool with a pool table, bar, and dining area.

After a scooter accident sent me to the hospital, I was having a pretty hard time in vang vieng. The Mad Monkey staff were the best, helping me throughout my stay so I could still have a really good time. Thanks to Tukta for being so patient and helpful with translating all the paperwork I had to deal with, and for switching my bed. And shoutout to Savanna for checking on me and being the life of the party. Thanks again, everyone :)
