Nok et Mika guesthouse

Several important things in our tiny room were broken: the toilet seat, sink, and ventilation. The fan only worked halfway, so the room was too hot, and brushing our teeth meant standing in our own spit. When we asked the owner to check and fix something, he got defensive and said he wouldn’t do anything. He told us to leave if we weren’t happy, so we did. The breakfast baguette was clearly from the day before too. Wouldn’t recommend it.

Mika and Nok are lovely, friendly, and helpful. Mika is French, full of good advice, and rented us the most reliable scooter we had in Southeast Asia. The location is great, breakfast was good, and the coffee was excellent. We stayed four nights in a very good, clean room with a balcony and beautiful view. Everything worked well, including the wifi. I definitely recommend this place.

I didn’t stay there, but after talking with Mika, the kind and smart French owner, I can recommend it much more than the hotel I chose. It looks clean and is well located, with a backpacker’s heaven kind of feel: good music, a relaxed atmosphere, fresh drinks, and both local and French food. They had boeuf bourguignon when I visited.

Cozy, clean, and right in the center of Vang Vieng. In my opinion, it’s the best-value accommodation around. The nearby backpacker hostels charge more for less service. The restaurant food is tasty, with special mention for the homemade pasta made daily. We’ll come back.
