Chandara Boutique Hotel

We spent four nights here with three friends, and the staff were lovely and really helpful. The rooms, pool, and service were great, and we could borrow bicycles to ride around town. They helped organize transport and sorted out anything we needed. It’s a little out in the industrial zone, away from the busy area, but getting around by bike was easy. It was also a lovely place to relax and hang out by the pool, a little oasis I’d recommend.

The pool and rooms were clean, and the rooms had plenty of space. The food and service were great too. I booked one night and ended up staying three, which says a lot about how much I liked this cosy place away from central Vientiane. One thing to keep in mind if you sleep lightly: a nightclub nearby played music from about 6pm until around 5am during the weekend I was there. The hotel kindly supplied earplugs. For the reasonable price, I’d happily recommend it.

There was plenty within an easy walk, and I thought the location was fantastic. Taxis are cheap too. The hotel itself is beautiful, with lots of services, good food and helpful staff. At night there was a guard at the entrance for security, though sometimes he fell asleep and I had to hop the fence to get back in. Usually that didn’t bother me, but it was trickier when it was raining.

The front desk staff were fantastic, always ready to help, and they understood when we decided to leave. I’m sure the hotel suits some people, but it felt more dated than the photos had led us to expect. The pool was okay, though the stained carpet on the stairs and dusty bedroom lamps bothered me. Maybe I was being a little dramatic, especially with my birthday coming up and the thought of waking up to walk on those carpets getting to me. We’d read the earlier reviews and were a bit surprised by what we found.
