Dansavanh Namngum Resort

It's a spectacular area, with all three hotels connected to each other. The casino and the “massage” service seem to be what most visitors come for.

A good spot for breakfast in Vientiane. Hope everyone enjoys their time here.

The views get five stars, but the hotel we stayed in gets one. We were first offered a two-bedroom villa and assured it was available, then told it wasn't. A standard room was offered next, but that wasn't available either. We eventually got a superior room, with a nightclub below blasting music until 2 a.m. Since we had two children and needed sleep, we changed rooms. Check-in was awful, with people smoking in reception, constant miscommunication, and rude, impolite behavior from staff. We were given a non-smoking room with an ashtray in it. Wallpaper was coming off in the communal areas and bedrooms, ceilings had water stains, and the walls were dirty. The kettle didn't work, so we couldn't make coffee in the morning, and the bedroom view was awful. The overpowering smell of smoke in the bathroom was horrible. Avoid this place if you don't want shocking service, disgusting smells, and unsightly rooms and shared spaces.

I arranged the free shuttle pickup online yesterday for 11:30 a.m. outside Kham Khoun Hotel. I waited an hour, but the Dansavanh Nam Ngum resort shuttle never showed up. It wasted my day. The service was very bad and irresponsible, and I wouldn't recommend staying at this resort or going to the Casino.
