Mekong Sunshine Hotel

Smelly, dirty bed, and it looked like cleaning had been forgotten. The staff were busy and disorganized. It was loud at night, with bars nearby. I felt unexpectedly sad given the price. I could sleep because I hadn't planned ahead. Be careful about eating here 😂

The room was filthy, with cockroaches everywhere. The bed was uncomfortable, and the linen was stained and looked unwashed. At checkout, the manager, who is also the owner, charged me a late fee that seemed like an amount he made up to get more money from me, even though I wasn't checking out late. I also watched a man handle the ice with dirty hands through my room window, the same ice they serve in drinks. DISGUSTING, FILTHY PEOPLE. DO NOT STAY HERE!!

The staff were friendly, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. There were mosquitoes in the room when we arrived, and they bit me. My skin reacts badly to them, which probably makes me an easy target. The price felt far too high for such an old hotel, especially when it seemed priced like a four-star place. There's no lift, and it wasn't worth the cost. We booked around 9am, then decided later that afternoon to stay just one night, but they wouldn't refund any of the payment. :(

If you want to be right by the night market and pay very little, this might suit you. The room and bed were clean, and the location was convenient. But a bar next door kept partying until early morning, and the stairs were hard to climb with no elevator. We were also told one room arrangement and then shown something different. Breakfast had the same issue: the price quoted was 40 baht less than what appeared on the ticket. The taxi suggested this place after our first choice was full, and that was a mistake.
