Phonethip Plaza Hotel

My room was large, modern, and very clean, with a good bed and linen, a flat-screen TV, a new aircon unit, and an excellent bathroom. The doors were solid and had modern electronic locks. I was very happy with the room. But a brewery right outside the window played loud music until midnight, and the windows weren't thick enough to soften it. The food was edible, but uninspired and certainly not delicious. I found the service staff helpful. A smile and friendly greeting can go a long way toward getting good service. The location is quite far from the river area, where many restaurants, hotels, and the market are clustered.

There are two buildings, with hotel rooms in the front and apartments behind. The front rooms looked simple and clean, but had no atmosphere, so we ruled them out. The apartments seemed cosier, but were dirty and dusty inside and out. Everything felt rather deserted and neglected. The promotional pictures look like they were taken in better days. We left.

I'm writing for my wife, who's staying at this hotel for quarantine. She asked politely for a clean bedsheet because the one on the bed was very dirty and made her itch so much she couldn't sleep well. Instead of giving her one, staff told her, “because you are dirty”. The room's power kept tripping. Rather than fix it, staff blamed her for using too much electricity, though I was video calling her and she wasn't even using the aircond or charging anything. She called the lobby many times, but no one picked up, so she had to ask relatives to deliver tissue. The Wi-Fi connected but couldn't be used at all, it was horrendous. I understand it's still the covid19 situation, and my wife tried not to ask the lobby for much. She cleans her room every day and buys her own plastic bags and tissue. We pay for a hotel and get this kind of attitude. They take our money for granted. 🤣

I booked five nights but left after just one, the first time I've ever done that. Check-in took 1.5 hours, our room was on the third floor with no elevator, the kitchen wasn't equipped, and one bed was missing. Breakfast was terrible. I admit the manager tried to help, even offering a free upgrade, but enough was enough.
