The location worked well, just a short walk from the main centre, and I’d stay here again. It was one of the nicest hostels we stayed in across Asia: small and quaint, with tasty food and clean rooms, showers, and bathrooms. The outdoor areas were nice, and the staff were smiley, friendly, and helpful. They stored our luggage when we arrived early, and there’s a no-shoes-upstairs rule. It was very quiet during our October stay, which we liked.

The staff were easy to talk to and always ready to help, and their English was genuinely excellent. My room was spotless, though the bathroom was tiny. The place is a little away from the bright lights and tourist bustle, but close enough to walk or catch a ride wherever you need to go. I’d recommend staying here.

I had a couple of great days here. The beds were really comfortable, and the food was amazing, especially the best smoothie I’ve had in ages. One thing to keep in mind: after checking into my next place, I noticed $80 missing from my bag. I can’t tell whether it happened at the hostel or later.

The breakfast was simple but delicious, and it came with the price. There’s also a tasty vegetarian restaurant right across the street, with plenty of shops within walking distance. The lounge is lovely, and the back area stays very quiet, with a billiard table there too. It was the best hostel I stayed at on my Laos trip. The place is beautiful, cozy, and very clean, including the bathrooms. The beds were comfortable, though the rooms felt a bit small. Staff were friendly and helpful. I’d definitely stay here again if I return to Vietiane, and I recommend Buddha Park outside the city.

For a calm and easy night or two in Vientiane, Sailomyen Hostel worked really well for me. It isn’t especially buzzy or social, if that’s what you’re after, but there are lots of seats indoors and outside. The rooms have curtains and AC, and the bathrooms are well stocked. From arrival to departure, the staff were welcoming and hospitable. Towels and things were provided without needing to ask, and a locker and padlock were included for free. Hostels can go either way, and Sailomyen was a hit for me. Cheers!
