Markazia Suites

I had a pleasant stay, though a few things could have been better. The reception team didn't explain the hotel's offerings or what was nearby, and the drinking glasses in my room were filthy when I arrived. I also noticed some guests received complimentary fruit platters while others didn't. The service could use attention. Ripped curtains and furniture and glass that could use polishing made the decor feel tired.

The location is fantastic, and the suites are spacious and well equipped. There's a kitchenette for making coffee or heating a snack in the microwave, plus a dining table and comfortable sofas. It would work well for a short visit or a longer stay.

We had to move rooms because the air conditioning wouldn't switch off and the staff couldn't fix it. The replacement was roomy too, but not well decorated, and the first room also felt short on furniture. The location was decent, though close to a major highway.

The rooms are spacious and, apart from the issue with the bed, clean. We were welcomed with a lovely fruit platter, and the hotel's location is excellent for downtown Beirut and close to Mar Michael. But I don't think I'd return. Although we'd booked a double bed well in advance, we got two singles pushed together. We only stayed one night and didn't raise it then, but at checkout I mentioned it and was told the hotel was highly occupied. The bed also felt damp and smelled a little moldy, almost like urine. The decor is luxurious, but the staff weren't very friendly when we arrived.
