Fond Doux Eco Resort

The setting is wonderfully lush, with jungle all around, and it’s close to the Pitons, the drive in volcano, and Project Chocolat. Our cabin was great and had a plunge pool, though we only used it once. Happy hour cocktails were good, and the restaurant had a nice menu. Most of the staff were friendly. The big pool barely gets sun and was too cold and windy for lounging, though the other plunge pools were an option. Getting to the cottages means climbing steep, uneven steps, and after three days we still couldn’t get used to them. Definitely difficult for anyone with mobility problems. Even so, we had a very pleasant stay.

The location was great for the volcano, Hotel Chocolate, and Ladera, where the views were lovely. The wifi worked surprisingly well, and the food was tasty, though service at the restaurant was slow. We didn’t use the pools because they looked chilly in the shade in February, which was fine. The room felt dated, and two nights without hot water made for a pretty terrible stay. The staff were nice and tried to help by moving us to another room, but it was still outdated and still had no hot water, which wasn’t their fault. Some wall stains and marks on the decor pillows are visible in the photos. There were a few nice touches, like flowers on the beds, but it wasn’t worth the money for us. We wouldn’t stay again.

Fond Doux Eco Resort has a relaxed feel, and the staff took good care of us. We enjoyed exploring nature around the historic ruins. It was a lovely introduction to St. Lucia.

Staying in a traditional old bungalow at Fond Doux was a great experience, with fruit, trees, and plants growing all around. It’s a locally run cocoa plantation with plenty of history, and the staff did a wonderful job looking after us. The resort is close to many island attractions and beaches. I recommend taking the chocolate tour and making your own bar.
