After our day trips, returning to Animals felt like coming home. There’s a lovely atmosphere here, and the pool was a beautiful, relaxing place to unwind after exploring. Room 3 worked perfectly for me: comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and equipped with everything I needed. The owners and staff were warm and genuinely friendly, and every interaction was a pleasure. The food was delicious too, and the cocktails were fantastic, definitely give them a try. I’ll absolutely be back.

I found this hotel by chance while planning a week in Sri Lanka, and liked it so much that I’ll stay here again when I return to Ahangama. The rooms and grounds were wonderful, but the service made the stay even better. It felt better than a five-star hotel to me. Mr Arvid and the whole team looked after me and my boyfriend so warmly that we felt at home from the very first moment. Big thanks to Nalin, Kavi and Samo for making sure we had what we needed. The food was delicious, breakfast was great, and the coffee was amazing. Thanks for having us. I’ll recommend the place to my friends and family.

Our room was chic and minimalist, and we slept really well. Animals also provides lovely organic toiletries made locally. The location is great, about a five-minute walk from Kabalana beach and plenty of good local restaurants. It’s a short tuk tuk ride to the main area uptown. We tried almost everything on the breakfast menu, and the drinks and cocktails were delicious too. The team were so helpful and attentive, while staying calm and unobtrusive. They’d bring guests water and kept the pool and seating area looking lovely. We had a fantastic stay and can’t wait to visit again.

Animals looks cute and inviting, with its pool and sweet colors, but I showed up with my son around 10 or 11 in the morning excited to have breakfast and we were turned away because it’s adults-only. I understand the concept, but that needs to be much easier to find. I couldn’t see it anywhere noticeable on Instagram, so the “everyone is welcome” message felt misleading and disappointing when we were standing at the door. It should be in the bio, a pinned post, or somewhere else people will see it.

The pool area has a great feel, and the food was very good. Animals is also close to the beach and the centre of Ahangama. We had a great week here, thanks to Nalin, Samo and the whole team for looking after us. We wanted a bit more room, and Nalin helped us switch rooms right from the start. It was all sorted within 30 minutes. Highly recommended.
