The ground-floor common area was lovely for relaxing, and the owners were welcoming. My room had nice pillows and a pleasant terrace, with a kitchen and a short walk to the beach after crossing the railway. The price was good. Still, a couple of bathroom cockroaches made me uneasy during my few nights there. Mosquitoes were often around, likely because the louvered windows don't shut completely. Trains pass from time to time, and the upstairs gets hot in the daytime. Toilet paper costs 150 rupees, and soap isn't provided, just something to know. I managed, but the bugs made the stay stressful.

The garden was a lovely place to unwind, and the family were very kind. My private room and bathroom were clean, with a terrace and a shared kitchen that had plenty of equipment. It's a simple homestay but had what I needed. Midigama is a little way off, though getting around by bike is easy. The nearby Buddhist temple can be loud sometimes. Still, it was a peaceful and really nice place to stay.

From the balcony in the mornings, I spotted monkeys, lots of birds, little parrots, and even a peacock and monitor lizard. The house has a beautiful, cared-for garden, plus an open-plan kitchen, living room, and dining room. It makes you want to stay.
