Gimanhala Tissawawa

We had a wonderful one night stay at Sudu Nelum Resort. The peaceful surroundings were great for relaxing and getting some quiet away from a busy lifestyle, and the spacious rooms were clean, well maintained and air conditioned. We felt comfortable and welcome from the moment we arrived. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful throughout, which made us feel at home. We had mixed fried rice for dinner, and it was tasty and well prepared, with good quality, flavor and portions. There are several choices on the menu, and they even provide bites for drinks, a nice surprise. It was a comfortable, enjoyable and memorable visit, and we'd definitely recommend this clean and friendly resort for its food and service.

We only stayed a night, but the room was roomy and clean, and so was the bathroom. The AC and hot water both worked. From the property you can see the lake and temples, and we caught that lovely view on a full moon night. The owner was kind, and the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Prasanna.

The peaceful feel of the place and its gorgeous view were highlights, and the rooms were spotless. The location is great too. Service was the weak point for me, though. The staff came across as unfriendly and not very helpful, so the hospitality needs a lot of work.

The front desk experience was very poor. There was just one staff member there, and he acted unprofessionally, as though we had never stayed at a hotel before. We had paid in full after choosing this property because we couldn't prepare Kiri Ahara at five-star hotels, yet he treated us like we hadn't paid. The room itself was dirty and smelled strongly unpleasant, with flies inside. The bed linen was stained and unhygienic. Sudu Nelum Resort doesn't meet basic hospitality standards and is a very poor-quality resort. I'd urge anyone considering a booking to think twice.
