We stayed one night at Wilds Wilpattu, right beside Wilpattu National Park, and had a wonderful experience. The manager and team welcomed us warmly and looked after us from beginning to end. You could tell they cared. The tents were cute, clean and comfortable, and the beds were great. There's no air-conditioning, just a fan, but the temperature inside was comfortable for a good night's sleep. Dinner was delicious, with a menu to choose from, and the sheltered dining area beside the rice fields and wild surroundings felt peaceful and special. They made our full-day safari, from 6am until evening, very easy. The hotel handled the booking, reservations and organization. We just got in the jeep while the driver sorted the tickets and entry. Afterward they let us leave our bags in the room, come back for a shower and rest before leaving. They also packed breakfast and lunch, and the chicken curry lunch was amazing. We didn't sleep very deeply because of the jungle noises, with crickets all night, peacocks calling and other birds. That's part of being in nature, and we're not used to it, so it wasn't the hotel's fault. Wilds Wilpattu has a beautiful setting and one of the kindest teams we've met in Sri Lanka. Highly recommended for a real nature stay near the park.

We really enjoyed staying right at the doorstep of wilpattu national park. The staff were the highlight and made our visit very pleasant. Suga deserves a special mention for taking me on an evening walk around the property and teaching me so much about Sri Lankan wildlife. The property is surrounded by lovely scenery and wildlife. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the hotel food was delicious. We were left very full every day! I'd highly recommend it to anyone visiting Wilpattu national park.

We had a great two-night stay at Wilds Wilpattu in October. The staff were friendly throughout and gave attentive service. The lodge's natural setting, with elephants around the property, was a real highlight. The safari to Wilpattu National Park was organized very well. They took care to tailor the itinerary and help us look for particular wildlife, which made for a successful park visit. Just remember to bring cash, as the property doesn't currently take card payments. We'd highly recommend it for an authentic, well-run nature stay near Wilpattu.

What made our two nights at Wild Wilpattu stand out was the full-day safari. Hansa drove and Dinasha guided us, and both were fantastic. They clearly love wildlife: every sighting got them excited, and they’d stop to explain what we were seeing. The drivers also kept in touch with each other about where animals had been spotted. We saw loads, including a leopard, and I came away with some lovely photos. Back at the hotel, our room was clean and just like the pictures. Sugath, the manager, was incredibly kind and helpful, and we had some lovely chats about Sri Lanka since his English is fluent. The food was excellent, whether ordered to the room or served by the campfire, and we had a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast too. Card payment is accepted. We’d already stayed at eight hotels and visited Yala national park on this trip, but this was easily our best experience. Thank you!

I loved how close Wilds Wilpattu is to the park’s main entrance, just a 10-minute drive, and the stay had a real, unpolished safari feel with lots of potential. It seems like they’re still improving the property, and I’m sure it’ll be even better once everything is sorted. Samantha, Tharidu, and Rathnayaka took such good care of us. They were thoughtful and attentive throughout, and the rooms were cosy and comfortable to come back to after a long day. There wasn’t much to do around the property, partly because it’s set away from the main road and access had been restricted after earlier flooding. At night, the generator was loud enough to bother my sleep as a light sleeper, though others may not mind it.
