The gardens and grounds at Lunuganga were so peaceful and beautifully kept. Each part of the estate had its own view, and the landscaping felt carefully thought out. I could have stayed longer in that calm setting. I was unsure about the ticket price at first, but the tour made it feel worth the money. It began on time, and our guide clearly knew the estate's history, design, and Geoffrey Bawa's ideas. His explanations added a lot to the visit. I left very happy I'd gone. Lunuganga is a remarkable work of architecture and landscape design, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys nature, architecture, or quiet surroundings. For architecture lovers, it's a must-see in Sri Lanka.

We spent five nights here in February, and the restorative feeling of the stay is still with us. Being able to sleep in the house Geoffrey Bawa used as a retreat from Colombo was a real treat. The place is magnificent, with striking design that feels settled into its natural surroundings. The grounds are full of giant terracotta jars, statues, and follies, and I still can't find the right words for how much I loved it. The staff were kind and friendly, and the food was always generous and delicious. My wife and I especially loved having gin and tonics on the garden terrace at sunset. The pool is small, but it's in a tranquil spot a short walk from the house. Birds singing all around made the whole stay feel magical and elegant. We're already planning to return.

For us, the staff were the best part of Lunuganga. Everyone was kind, friendly, responsive, and seemed to anticipate what we needed. I couldn't single anyone out. The estate's grounds are extensive and peaceful, with carefully kept spaces flowing into lush, wild growth. Pavilions and places to sit appear throughout. We watched many kinds of birds from the terrace, and saw Sri Lankan Grey monkeys, squirrels, and civets. We were told there may or may not be crocodiles in the lake. The architecture is another reason we loved staying here. Geoffrey Bawa's tropical modernist vision makes the spaces feel both elegant and relaxed. The buildings and grounds hold an eclectic collection of Roman statues, murals, and modernist works. We stayed in the Gate House, which paired luxury with an earthy feel that suited its time. The meals were wonderful, too. Every one was a delight, and the cooking class made lunch especially interesting and delicious. This is one of the nicest places we've stayed anywhere. We'd go back in a shot!

The property is stunning, from the architecture and garden to the pool and food. I loved the frangipani scent, the dinner curry, and breakfast with marmite, homemade jams, and hoppers. It all felt like being in a movie. The staff were attentive, kind, and so friendly. Thank you to the whole team for such warm, thoughtful service. We're in love with the place!
