The rooftop café beside the main road was a nice, unusual feature, and the view from the room was breathtaking. Dinner was delicious, and I enjoyed the menu choices. I should mention that the dining seats are quite close together, so loud or disruptive guests could affect the experience. I visited during the April 2026 holidays, and the place felt like a cozy cottage on a misty stretch of Haputale main road, almost at the edge of a mountain cliff. There’s a little stream nearby, which adds to the peaceful atmosphere. The garden was well kept, and the facilities and amenities were in very good condition. Staff were friendly, attentive, and supportive. On Sinhala New Year day, when I expected things to be busy, the owner personally made sure my request was taken care of. I enjoy red string hoppers for breakfast, and I was grateful and impressed that they made the effort to accommodate that.

Thilak, the hotel manager, was flexible and accommodating, and Hasitha gave commendable service. We had a full-board stay for two nights. The rooms were cozy, clean, and well maintained, with lovely views, and the food was tasty and authentically prepared. The hotel rooms are comfortable for families, while groups of up to 12 pax can use the beautiful bungalow, which has three bedrooms, a pool table, and a balcony for a drink with those views. Next time, I'll book the bungalow. A peaceful place to relax, and one I'd recommend. A welcome drink on arrival would be a nice extra.

We had a great stay at Blackwood and enjoyed three days in beautiful surroundings with friendly staff. We booked the bungalow and 5 rooms for 2 nights. The location is very good, and the rooms were clean. The chef cooked for us, and the food was really tasty. Thanks, Blackwood.

Blackwood Holiday Bungalow in Haputale has sweeping, spectacular views, and the staff are friendly, attentive, and flexible. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and well maintained, with hot water. The food is excellent, too. A lovely choice for a relaxing break with good service and beautiful scenery.
