Lagoon Garden Hotel

I arrived under a lot of stress and am leaving refreshed, relaxed, and full of new energy. I'm so glad I chose this hotel for my holiday. From day one I felt comfortable and warmly welcomed. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and professional, making the stay even more enjoyable. I love this country and its kind people, and I'm especially proud of my Sri Lankan heritage. The setting at Ayurveda Mahagedara is peaceful, calm, clean, and very relaxing, with friendly staff who are always ready to help. The food was good and suited the treatment process. I found the Ayurvedic treatments very professional, and they helped me feel refreshed and healthy. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for authentic Ayurvedic treatment in a peaceful environment.

The people serving meals, room service, the therapists, massage staff, and chef were all consistently kind and professional. My concerns are with the crowded conditions and the medical care. There seemed to be too many guests, and the therapists looked worn out. The attention and atmosphere were nowhere near what we experienced on our first visit, which lasted seven nights and was excellent. We came back because of that stay. I was healthy when I arrived and chose the retreat for preventive detox and wellness. But from the first night, my daughter and I both started feeling unwell after beginning the medication. That hadn’t happened on our earlier visit. One medicine made me very nauseous. I reported it twice and was told it would be changed, but it never was. On the final two nights, I had severe abdominal pain and extreme bloating with visible inflammation. I went back to the doctor and was told I’d get more treatment, but nothing followed. Later, I was told the medicine I already had was “enough,” without another examination or follow-up. I felt brushed off and poorly cared for. I was afraid to make things worse, so I avoided food on the day we left. My daughter vomited on the first night too. We were also made to feel uncomfortable as soon as we arrived, with repeated questions about why we had booked just one day ahead. We booked at the last minute because we wanted to, and the hotel’s own official website let us do it. Guests shouldn’t be made to feel unwelcome for using the hotel’s booking system. If the center is already full, why keep taking more guests, especially at a medical retreat where proper care and follow-up matter? I came for wellness and preventive care, and left feeling unwell and unheard. I’m sharing this so future guests can make an informed choice.

The meals, Ayurveda treatments, and building were all wonderful, and I left feeling refreshed in body and mind. It had been a while since I’d visited Sri Lanka or done Ayurveda, so I felt excited but a bit nervous beforehand.
