Green Palace

We booked for two people, but were given just one towel. Reception said they’d send another, then two housekeeping staff came by later only to tell us there weren’t any more. We asked repeatedly over the next two days and finally got two towels on the second night. The service and management were extremely disappointing. Avoid this place if you expect basic amenities.

I lost my daughter’s 1-pawn chain at Green Palace Wellawatta on 2025/10/16 at 9.00. I immediately contacted the owner, Mrs Deepa, but she didn’t respond. When she finally answered a day later, she said she couldn’t give me the CCTV footage. Her reasons were that they weren’t responsible, they had work, and they didn’t have time to check it. I asked her to put the footage on a pendrive so I could look myself, but she wouldn’t. A staff member later told me the CCTV footage only works for three days. Mrs Deepa’s behavior was extremely rude and very bad.

The wedding meal was so poor it smelled terrible and was inedible, which was deeply embarrassing in front of our guests. Parking was just as bad: despite our earlier arrangements, security gave no help, so guests had to find parking themselves and many paid for public parking. We had discussed the hall setup, parking, and food with management since March, and even met the lady director the day before the wedding, when she promised everything would be handled perfectly. I held my wedding here in early July 2025, but none of those promises came through. The director was responsive when collecting advance payments, then irresponsible and unreachable when problems came up. We spent our hard-earned money expecting a memorable day and got stress and disappointment. I wouldn’t recommend this hall for any function.

It was good value, and the rooms were clean with a well-kept bathroom. The location is very close to Galle Road. The sheets and towels seemed a little old, though they looked clean. The iron also had some burned-on marks, probably left by someone who mistakenly put it on the table, and it sometimes left marks on clothes. It would be better to replace it. Apart from those things, I had a good stay.
