Trellis Apartment

For $22 a night, this was an average, cheap place to stay. The WiFi usually didn't work, so I wouldn't choose it if internet access matters to you. The toilet is shared with the landlord who lives in the apartment, so it's really a room in her home. I also asked several times for a receipt after paying cash to the property, but they wouldn't provide one.

It's a peaceful homestay in a good location, and the price felt reasonable. The host is a really friendly guy who'll help with whatever you need. They share lists of places to eat and shop, and when I asked about one particular shop, he even contacted them for me. Great service, worth the budget.

We spent two nights here in January, and the owner’s handling of the second night still bothers me. At 4 AM we woke to furniture being moved in another room and the washing machine running. I asked for a refund for the night because we'd lost our sleep, but he offered only a small amount and accused me of trying to get money back over a minor issue. He said he'd told the housekeeper to clean before church because guests were due at 9 AM. She was doing her job, and the owner could have arranged a later check-in for those guests. The disturbance was under his control, so I feel he should have taken responsibility, apologized, and refunded us for that night.

A great location, and the place was clean and comfortable, with everything you need to feel at home. The owners are a very welcoming, responsive, friendly family. I'd rate it 10/10.
