The rooms stayed fairly bright at night because the blinds were so thin, though the limited outdoor lighting meant it was okay. The coffee was undrinkable, so stick with tea. Food was fine, somewhere between meals I've had that were better and much worse. The hotel itself had a lovely design and was pristinely clean, cared for by a team of smiling ladies. It's tucked into the countryside among Mangrove trees by a lake, well away from the road, so the setting was quiet and tranquil. I'd definitely recommend it.

The breakfast and dinner buffets worked well for our large group, with plenty of local and Western choices for children, teenagers, adults, and elders. The staff were accommodating and friendly, and Front Office Manager Chathuni gave us especially warm, thoughtful support throughout our stay. Aba Yaalu is in a beautiful spot, and our rooms were fresh, clean, and comfortable. It was a calm, relaxing visit, and I highly recommend it.

We left very satisfied and would happily recommend the hotel. 😊 As a women led hotel, it's kept in really good condition. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a calming getaway.

Staying amid Kandalama's lush nature, with the architecture, calm atmosphere, and focus on sustainability tied closely to the landscape, made us slow down. For us, Rita and Sanjay, Amba Yaalu - Mango Friends - is much more than a hotel. The name fits: from the start we were welcomed with warmth, respect, and openness, like friends. It's a meaningful experience with soul and purpose, and a powerful example of hospitality lived differently. We're grateful and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking something special.
