Elysia Sigiriya Hotel

The staff were polite and quick to respond, and made me feel welcome. Housekeeping kept my room in perfect shape every day. I had a great stay and would gladly return.

The room service staff were lovely and helpful, and the hotel looks beautiful from the outside. I stayed three nights, but the bathroom let the stay down. It was spacious, yet had nowhere to put toiletries or other things. There also wasn't enough light, and hot water was lacking.

Our first night in Sri Lanka was a great one. The early morning atmosphere was especially nice, and we were close to several attractions we visited. Some of the staff speak Italian, too.

We paid the full amount six months ahead of time for our two-night stay on November 22 and 23, 2025. After breakfast, we were ready to check out at 9 am, but the General Manager shut the main gate and wouldn't let our bus, carrying 30 passengers, leave. He said there was a disagreement between hotel management and the travel company we had hired. We showed him the correspondence and proof that we had paid the travel agent in full for the entire tour, matching the invoices. Management still wouldn't let us go until around 12:30 pm. We lost three and a half precious hours and missed the chance to climb the scenic Sigiriya Forts, something we may never get to do in our lifetime. A horrible place to stay. Please avoid this hotel. I'd give it zero stars if that were an option.
