Kevin Hotel

We loved staying at Kevin's Hotel. The atmosphere is peaceful, partly because it isn’t a touristy place, and the views are amazing. There’s direct access to the beach, and the garden is great for sunbathing, reading or doing yoga. The staff were very kind and helpful, and we always felt well looked after. The restaurant serves a wide range of Sri Lankan dishes, all very tasty. People at the hotel and in the surrounding area are also actively protecting the turtles that come to the beach to lay eggs. We joined a beach clean-up, which was a nice experience and made us feel the rubbish problem was being addressed. Thank you for a great stay!

Kevin is the owners’ son, whose name the hotel uses. We stayed there for 10 days, and the people were open-hearted, caring and kind. The ocean is about 50 metres away, with nothing rocky in the way, so you can walk straight in without worrying about hurting your feet. There’s also a nice lagoon nearby for snorkelling and enjoying calm waves. The hotel seemed new or recently renovated, and everything was just fine. We strongly recommend staying here.

We planned on four nights but ended up staying nine because we loved the personal feel so much. It was more like living with friends than being in a hotel, and we’ve never had such a personal experience while travelling. The staff were lovely hosts. We could choose Sri Lankan or Western breakfast, served when it suited us, and the cook made dinner just how we wanted when we told him what to prepare. Kevin Hotel is about a 20-minute walk from Dickwella town, so it doesn’t get crowded with tourists. We nearly had the whole beach to ourselves, and someone was always around to give us a ride into town when we needed one. The hotel has been modernised. A few small things were still being worked on, but they didn’t affect us. The rooms are modern and spacious, with air conditioning, good bathrooms and comfortable beds. We highly recommend the location, rooms, kindness and atmosphere, and can’t wait to come back. Thanks a million, guys. We’ll never forget our time together at your beautiful place :)

We stopped in while strolling along the beach and grabbed a couple of cold beers. The staff were lovely and even brought over an ice bucket so they’d stay chilled. It’s a great spot to sit and watch the waves roll in. We also had a look at a room: it was clean, roomy, and had a balcony facing the Indian ocean.
