Freedom Guest Inn Ella

We stayed for 4 nights and really didn't want to leave. It's tucked away somewhere quiet, but the busy town is an easy walk away. Our standard room had a balcony, and every room has its own outdoor seating spot where breakfast is served. The room was very clean. The bathroom looked a bit dated, but everything worked and there was plenty of hot water. There were hooks for clothes and a communal fridge to use. Nelson, who lives in a separate house on site, was a big help arranging taxis. We can recommend the calypso train too, which is virtually empty in the afternoons!

Fruity coco restaurant is just steps away, with delicious food at affordable prices. The location also works really well for visiting the bridge and little Adam’s peak. Our family of 4 had a great time here, and Nelson was always ready to help. He showed us how to catch local buses to the tea factory and to secret waterfall. Breakfast was great as well. We enjoyed it so much that we'll be back soon!

The breakfast was quite good, with tea, bread, jam, eggs, and fresh fruit. We also got a Sri Lankan breakfast once, and another time a dish made with breadfruit from his garden. The host was very friendly and professional. After a month in Sri Lanka, this was the cleanest place we'd stayed. It's conveniently close to the centre but quiet, and our stay at the Freedom Guest Inn was perfect. We'd definitely recommend it.

The rooms with a veranda on the first floor are especially comfortable, and the rooms are big and clean. The people were helpful, and the price was reasonable for what you get. It's in a quiet corner near the center. I spent 3 nights in Ella, two of them here, and if I stayed longer, I'd probably choose this place again. You don't need a hotel overlooking the valley to get a chance to breathe and plan the next day.
