Hi Lanka Backpackers - Adults Only

The manager was lovely and helpful, cooking individual breakfasts each morning on request and giving us advice on places to visit and routes around Ella. We were there with a friend in August 2018, about one month after Hi Lanka had opened in Ella. Our room was clean and cool, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was good and well worth what we paid. The hostel sits up high with a veranda and nice views of the hills and trees. Little Adams peak is just a few hundred metres away. I'd recommend Hi Lanka Ella.

We were there during the imposed curfew, and the friendly owner was accommodating. It was nice to sit in the area and watch people over breakfast, and there were a kitten and dogs too. The hostel is a bit of a walk from the town's main nightlife, but closer to Little Adam's Peak and the Nine Arch Bridge. Nights were quieter, which was great for sleeping. My one complaint: the bathroom in our dorm room wasn't cleaned during our stay, and went from spotless to gross in 3 days.

We stopped for a drink on the way back from Little Adams peak. The owners were delightful, and the place looked really nice. They made passion fruit juice from fruit growing across the road, within sight, and surprised us with some delicious pancakes. They also brought down a very cute puppy for us to cuddle.

Really comfortable hostel with friendly staff. The bed and pillow were super comfy, and the plugs were handy. Mahendran was friendly and gave us good service. There's a Sri Lankan restaurant downstairs, and the food was tasty too. Highly recommend it.
