The hosts were so sweet, and they even packed breakfast for our train from Ella to Kandy. We stayed in a really peaceful, jungle-like spot, about a 20-minute walk from Ella's lively streets. Breakfast came with lovely views over the jungle valley. The room was clean and had hot water.
Mrs. Sanjeewa cooked most of our meals for a very reasonable price, and her food was the best we had in all of Sri Lanka. I'm still dreaming about her breadfruit curry! The family were very, very sweet, and the views were breathtaking. Just keep in mind that little critters, like insects or the occasional lizard, may find their way into your room since you're sleeping in the jungle. We were totally comfortable with the mosquito net and bug-trapping light they provided. Staying at Morning Light was one of the greatest delights of our time in Sri Lanka. If you stay, let them know you'd like to order food :)
The balcony view is wonderful, and it's a lovely spot for tourists to immerse themselves in the jungle. What we weren't told in advance was how much breakfast and dinner would cost. The host charged us more than we expected, so we ended up spending quite a bit more than we'd planned.
The views were breathtaking, and our room was clean and tidy. The family were really friendly and open, always ready to help with anything they could. I had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend it 🥂
